I'm sure not many people know what bridge this is. When I see this bridge, I myself cannot recognise this bridge even though I have crossed this bridge probably hundreds of times when I was younger. This is the bridge of 'love as quoted from the ex PM Goh of Nanyang Girls and Chinese High.
A group of 'kind hearted' souls made a cartoon strip about love by the bridge. Must admit its pretty funny and sometimes if its true cos I guess it has never happened to me. Grinz.

And so this is a typical love story on the bridge. Which is true only to a certain extent I guess. The website that had this made alot more cartoons of other schools like AC, MGS, SCGS. I guess the only thing is to read it with an open mind and have a good laugh about it.

This is the website: The Students' Sketchpad. Enjoy!

2/8 campus street has hired a gardener! (Hopefully a hunky one) but I was told by April unless I consider an old man with a beard and hobbling along hunky then our gardener is hunky. What can I say? Obviously, Jeff would have to remain the hunky one in the house. Right girls? Anyway I was sent photos of my current residence in Australia all together with over grown weeds and all. Blardy agent is picking on us cos we gave him trouble. Like honestly, how does he expect us to tend to our lovely garden when we're NOT IN THE COUNTRY? Seriously, the way people think sometimes. So here's a peek into our 'lovely' garden.

Hunky gardener, do your job.
Pretty please?
agents. bah.

Yesterday I attended a seminar with my brother at Goodwood Park Hotel on Concord College. Not sure if many people heard of this college, I for one certainly have not heard of it until last night. But apparantly it is quite a prestigious college in the UK for students who want to take their A levels or O levels to carry on to study in Prestigious Universities in UK. It's quite interesting really except that the way they marketed their college was that they completely just dissed the A level system in Singapore which of course being an A level student, I felt strongly about. But on the other hand, I thought I studied in the most ulu place that could ever exist, I was wrong. This Concord College is located in Shrewsbury ( say whaaa?) in the UK, which is well a countryside in goodness knows where, 1 hr drive from Birmingham and a 2 hr drive from London. Well which is equivalent to you know, Ipswich which is nearly 1 hr drive from Brisbane and 2 hr drive from Gold Coast. But suddenly, after that talk, I found out that Ipswich was not all that ulu after all.

This is the campus of Concord College (which I must admit is beautiful).

Looks like a rich man's house right?

And by the way this is the show that the campus is in the middle of no where.

Their facilities around campus:

Dining place

Auditorium

Library

Urm their discotechque (sp?)

Swimming Complex

Tennis Court
Sports Hall

A map to show where Concord College is located. Far Far Far

But anyways, it is I must admit it's a beautiful place with a really condusive environment as it only has a small cohort of 340 out of which 120 students who take their A levels, 20 of them made it to medical school. Which is about 1/6th of the cohort which is quite an impressive statistic I must say. But I just didn't like the way they put the JC system in Singapore down. Even though yes its probably more stressful in Singapore but it does not mean that students in Singapore do not do well to enter universities in the UK. Because different countries have their different ways of handling things, and probably it is felt that this system is good for Singaporeans? Many would beg to differ but sometimes I guess reality is like that. You live with whatever you have. Not everyone has the opportunity to study overseas at such a young age because of the exhorbitant fees for international students. So what then happens to people who cannot afford it? Yes students make it Oxford and Cambridge, UOL, London School of Economics, etc but not everyone in Singapore can afford an education like that. What then happens? Do we just say, you know what too bad, because you don't have the money to have that sort of education. It does not mean that people who do not have the education of top universities, they are in any way not as good as those who have.

But of course, I'll be labelled as a jealous Singaporean

I guess all I wanted to say was, be happy with what is provided for you and don't complain. If you're able to get an overseas education, good on ya. If not, a local university education is equally as good because its the student that make their grades, not their schools that make their grades.

This is my old campus in Ipswich, admist all those trees. But really definately more populated and less ulu than Shrewsbury.

A note: this is purely based on my personal views even though I am educated overseas.

Stay Happy!

Bored at work once more. Think I have not been bored of work in a while. Notice the lack of updates since the 1st of Feb. Work has surprisingly been busy the past week, screaming and running up and down. Heaps and heaps of calling to do, to chase people for RSVP lists. For most who don't know, my company organised 4 luncheons for their major clients starting from today till friday. The amount of work involved just to pull it off is tremendous. Not just on me but on my bosses who of cos in turn all presurise me. But oh well, I think its all good or so I say. As of yesterday, I think I scolded more fuck words than I have had in my entire stay in Cisco. But of cos, when deadlines are met, people like me gets let off and now I'm back to slacking in the office. Well, till my bosses come back from the restaurant.

sigh

Better enjoy my slacking abit more.

I went to a dinner last saturday in Toa Payoh in the Chinese Association Clan. First-timers to this event, we did not know what food was served but CNY well being CNY usually is served with the normal 7 course dinner. But hmm, when my mum mentioned the disturbing amounts of monks around, we were starting to suspect that it was vegetarian. Not that there is anything wrong with vegetarian food, its just not filling enough. And not surprisingly, we were right. Well, it was alright just the amount was not enough to make us full and the dishes took a long time to be served. But meantime, throughout the entire course meal, there was performances by urm aunties and uncles who actually bought tickets to this event under the persuasion of their Karaoke Teacher! In exchange for them buying the tickets, some of them get to perform. Now, normally shouldnt it be: in exchange for your performance, we give you free tickets? But anyway it all for a good cause.

Side note: I was wondering throughout the performances. Looking at the ages these performers were in, they are mostly people who have already retired or somewhere near there. Is there really nothing to do in their older age that people go for dancing classes and karaoke classes. Makes me wonder would I be like this next time when I'm at that age?

hmmm...

But anyway, work ends next week. Finally! And its time to start packing my millions and millions of stuff back to Brissy Land. Finally the mood for going back comes to me.

Cny this year was an interesting affair as for the first time (as least for as long as I can remember), we ate out on the eve and the 2nd day of New Year. I bum around on the 1st day by the way. But I realise its not easy eating out as well cos it just seem that waitresses there cannot wait for you to just leave! As in, they serve and clear so fast that meal was kinda stressful after a while. But anyway, CNY a joyous affair.. =D

Me. Youngest brother.

Younger brother. Me.

And my dad got crazy eating the suckling pig's ear..
At the restaurant when we actually had a breather waiting for the dessert.

Turned out to a longer break than expected and thus photo taking was in order..
Sisters.

Siblings.

Cousins.
And that's my CNY. Boring but at least it was a break with mahjong with the older generation. ;)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Met up with my babe just before CNY eve. My babe being my darling who came all the way from HK visiting! There were slight misunderstandings but darling I'm so glad that we're alright now. Brought my babe to Clark Quay where we were spoilt for choices for food and in the end we settled for Thai food. Service was great there and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed myself that night.

But of course us being us, we over ordered.

Lentil Soup

Saffron Rice - till now I still don't know what saffron really is. Or the spelling even right.

Butter Nann

Butter Chicken

Lamb Chops

And at the end of the night, we have like half of dinner left on the table. Ooops...

Thanks for the Wonderful Night Babe. Hope you have had one too.
